Of our four grandchildren, only one, ACB, has a birthday in August - not March as the other three do. I wanted to do something special for his birthday so made a quilt for his special day. I will repeat bed quilts for others on their birthdays. Here is MONSTER TRUCKS by Windham Fabrics.

Beach Themed Gift for colleagues leaving current 'post'
When I saw this BEACH THEMED panel at Stone Soup Batiks, I knew it was the right one for a couple who we have worked with, traveled with, and laughed with over the past 1.5 decades. Hope this surprise is one that will delight them for years to come.
*Shell design was 'long armed' at Stone Soup Fabrics.
First Baby Quilt
I love this Hello, World fabric! So, so cute! Finished this quilt (just stitch in the ditch quilting to save time and get it out to sweet little girl) for a college and med school friend of our son.

Rob's House Warming Gift
I had wanted to make something for our long time teaching friend, Rob, for his first 'official' home by the sea. I scoured fabric websites for lighthouses and other fabrics that had some ocean animals and theme to them. Quilt is on its way to his home and hopefully, will give him much joy in the winter months especially. Definitely a labor of love and friendship as I learned much about my initial hesitations to start but happiness in its completion.
Laurie's Quilt
My dear friend Laurie lost her cat Izzy after over a decade of snuggles and meows and love. I found a three by two panel of these cats a while back and thought I would purchase - never know who might be interested in a future lap quilt using it. Well, the time came sooner than I thought and I enlarged the quilt with two patterns and some turquoise accents. The vertical two pieces were the borders on the panel and the borders were too pretty not to do something with them - hence the vertical dividers. Who knew these cat panels called Cat-i-Tude were so popular!
Below is her finished quilt. She should receive it today - labor of love with many 'opportunities' to improve from this beginning quilter!
Minion World
Our grandchildren love Minions. The youngest literally cracks up in the movies and the children only have Movie Night on rare occasions. When I found this panel, I decided this was something that I had to make! Three of the four have birthdays in March so this will be fun to give as well as see their reactions.

First quilt on own - Finished!!!
For 2019, this is my first ever designed and finished quilt 'on my own.' I have an incredibly gifted sister who saw me through the 2017 Christmas tree quilt that still remains to have the binding put on it. However, this disappearing nine patch quilt is the first I designed as a gift and only need to hand sew the binding to the back. Stone Soup Batiks in South Bend did the long arm quilting and did a wonderful job!

2019 - Cold Start Temp Wise BUT good start QUILT wise
2019 has started out with much snow and very cold temperatures (current -16 degrees F). This does allow one to stay indoors and quilt however! So, between 'decluttering', rearranging, and other house projects (under kitchen cabinet lighting done - yeah!), I have finished two quilts (one at long arm but too cold to get out to send the other) and now a table runner X0X0. Anyone else would have finished the table runner much faster than I did but at least it is completed.
Here is the unironed project started at Stitch n Time Fabric Shop - Creative Sewing Club.
Here is the unfinished border quilt that is at Stone Soup Batiks for quilting. Anxious to see it completed!
